Turn on your stove top or grill to medium heat.
Mix all ingredients (except caramelized onions) into a medium sized mixing bowl.
Optional: If adding caramelized onions to the patties at the end, slice up onions and add to grill or stove top pan (you can even add them to the same skillet). Set them aside once done.
Roll meat mixture into 3 inch balls and place on grill or skillet.
Flat the meat balls into patties and cook for a 3 minutes before flipping.
Remove from stove once each patty has reached a safe internal temperature.
Add caramelized onions (or any other toppings) before serving warm.
Refrigerate any left over patties once they've cooled.
